I do all my painting and then do the ink last.

I do some of my paintings on wood because 1. I like the look of panels with a deep edge, 2. as soon as I'm done painting is display ready...no framing needed. 3. It's very inexpensive to build your own panels. I like to use pine. If I know I'm shipping a piece I'll usually do it on wood just for durability. I also seal the wood after I'm done with Krylon UV (Matte) Protective spray.

Thank you for your questions. Happy painting!Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09438176616493931763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29356284.post-18593129899243207392010-01-13T23:43:16.339-06:002010-01-13T23:43:16.339-06:00Tried to email this but it came back undeliverable...Tried to email this but it came back undeliverable -

Hello, I am admiring your nice blog and wonderful work and would like to know why Gouache & Ink are what you seem to prefer. I use pen and ink, and acrylics - not together (yet). I am thinking about trying watercolor, leaning more towards gouache actually. Would you recommend an artist quality brand? Can I assume correctly you use the ink on top of the gouache? Why on wood? What kind?

THANK YOU in advance for taking the time to answer.
