Below are my two pieces for the show. I like to think of what the characters are doing in their free time when they're not adventuring.

Hello, I am admiring your nice blog and wonderful work and would like to know why Gouache & Ink are what you seem to prefer. I use pen and ink, and acrylics - not together (yet). I am thinking about trying watercolor, leaning more towards gouache actually. Would you recommend an artist quality brand? Can I assume correctly you use the ink on top of the gouache? Why on wood? What kind?
THANK YOU in advance for taking the time to answer. David :-)

I use Holbein Acryla Gouache. I really like how smooth and strong this paint is. It's blend-able and doesn't flake off. I do all my painting and then do the ink last.
I do some of my paintings on wood because 1. I like the look of panels with a deep edge, 2. as soon as I'm done painting is display ready...no framing needed. 3. It's very inexpensive to build your own panels. I like to use pine. If I know I'm shipping a piece I'll usually do it on wood just for durability. I also seal the wood after I'm done with Krylon UV (Matte) Protective spray.
Thank you for your questions. Happy painting!
