Stormy Weather Arts Festival at Cannon Beach, Oregon.

This weekend is the Stormy Weather Arts Festival in Cannon Beach, Oregon and I will be there with Archimedes Gallery for their group show opening this Saturday evening from 5-8pm. Also I will be doing a painting demo that afternoon as well from 1-3pm, so if you're in the area stop on by! (The gallery is located on the second floor, just look for the owl sign near the stairs to lead the way!)

If you haven't been to Cannon Beach it is such a magical treat, and the local marine life was the inspiration behind my contributions to the group show. I love all the flora and plant life that grows near the coast, and the tidal pools and ocean are simply wonderful!

Out and about at Cannon Beach, Oregon

So I intended to write this blog post over a month ago and time just got away from me and it was sitting in my "drafts post" box. Finally finished this post up! There are still a couple pieces from the show still available if you are interested. Sept 15, 2015 - Nicole

Last weekend was the opening to my show at Archimedes Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I've been showing with the gallery since their debut a couple years ago and it's always a pleasure to work with a great group of folks!

I had six original paintings featuring woodland homes among the trees and streams, many locations inspired by the regions around the Pacific Northwest. I love the  moss, trees, bark, and ecosystems of this region. These paintings illustrate possibilities of what it would be like to live in little fictional villages in these settings.

One of the perks of the show was that I had the whole weekend to explore the Cannon Beach area which I love.

It was really great to see the beach at different times of day. Seeing the sun set over the ocean is really wonderful and such a calm feeling. I also heard while I was out there that the next morning around 6AM would be an unusual low tide because of the moon and time of year.

So the next morning I set off with one of the people who were kind enough to host me for the weekend. (And aren't adventures always more fun with a comrade!)

Almost all of Haystack rock was exposed and we were able to walk out to the second needle (pillar-like rock). There were really great starfish and tidepools among the rocks. Many sea anemone in quantities I had never seen before!

SO many starfish! Some area's of the coast are doing better, but the starfish wasting disease is still affecting many starfish.

This area that we're in is north of Cannon Beach, more towards Ecola State Park. It was beautiful and rocky, and we were only a handful of people out there at low tide.

It was an incredible experience to see this area that I didn't know about., and super awesome to stay with my host family and hang out with the gallery owners for the weekend. If you are up in Cannon Beach, I regularly have original artwork and a variety of prints of choose from.

Stormy Weather Festival and Archimedes Gallery

The Stormy Weather Arts Festival in Cannon Beach, Oregon was earlier in the month (a bit behind on posting this days!). I love visiting Cannon Beach and super happy to be part of an awesome gallery in the area - Archimedes Gallery. I was part of their newest group show and also did a gouache/ink demonstration that afternoon. It had been a while since I'd done a demo and had a grand time!

Such a great day to visit the beach. There's the famous "Haystack Rock" seen in the Goonies movie (never say die!).

Hello there Archimedes owl. I love the balcony view at the gallery. I really dig how this area of shops in Cannon Beach are laid out. Every twist and turn has a secret coffee shop, gallery, or awesome food. Three of my favorite things. Oh and pups...this is a very dog friendly community.

Working on some small paintings, talking to people as they stop by. Quite a few fellow artists visiting for the festival...got to talk about favorite materials and supplies. Thanks Lindsey at Archimedes for snapping this photo!

 Here are my two paintings for the show. These are very much inspired by the Pacific Northwest with lots of tree and plant life. I love how moss clings to everything here.

 I have admired Frank Gonzales work for quite a while and was super excited to see these paintings (above) by him. Beautifully painted birds + crystals and plants = win!

Archimedes Gallery at Cannon Beach, Oregon

This week I had the pleasure of visiting Archimedes Gallery at Cannon Beach, Oregon. I started showing at Archimedes a year ago and ever since moving to Washington it was my goal to go see the gallery in person! The area was full of galleries and cute shops, and Archimedes is located on the 2nd story and has a great view of the ocean and area.

 Blaine Fontana created the "Open" and "Shut" signs for the gallery

Prints by Jeremy Fish in the windows. I was so excited about seeing everyone's artwork there that I forgot to take pictures of my own work there at the gallery.

This shelf was full of wondrous creatures by Leslie Levings and Shing Yin Khor's recent show "Dubious Beasts". They were so brightly colored and awesome, I wanted to take them all home with me.

This mixed media piece "Musalliendo" by Leslie Levings particularly stole my heart.

Prints on wood by Kristin Tercek aka Cuddly Rigor Mortis. That pup in the corner with a t-bone steak makes me smile every time.

I am so pumped to be part of the gallery since it opened last year, and look forward to their next big event for Stormy Weather Arts Festival this November. I plan on being there for part of it and will let everyone know the details on that when it's available.

You can't visit Cannon Beach without checking out the beach! It started out quite a rainy/misty morning, but by the afternoon the sun was shining. Love watching people out and about, having a good time.

Stormy Weather Arts Festival and Archimedes Gallery

This weekend, November 1 - 3 is the annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival at Cannon Beach. This three day celebration gathers together local galleries, musicians, and literary artists. Visit the Cannon Beach Gallery Group website for complete details on artist walks and demos.

I will have artwork at the Archimedes Gallery featuring artwork on the stormy side.

Flora and Fauna Opening at Archimedes Gallery

This weekend is the opening to the art exhibit "Flora and Fauna" at Archimedes Gallery in Oregon. They are a brand new gallery with a beautiful space on the west coast.
