Crazy4Cult NYC: Tonight!

Tonight in New York City is the latest installment of Gallery 1988's Crazy4Cult art show. I've been participating in this show for three years and happy to be part of the group show again. This time around I picked one of my favorite films: The Neverending Story.

There were many parts of this movie that absolutely fascinated me, like Falcore the luck dragon and the giant rock eating guy, but terrified me like the Sphinxes and the horse dying in the muddy swamp. But everything turned out ok and I love watching this movie.

If you are in NYC today go check it out! There are over 200 works in this show and a great show for the movie fanatics and art fans alike. The entire show usually goes online a day or two after the opening. 

Crazy4Cult: Say Hi To The Bad Guy at Gallery1988

Last Friday was the opening to the latest Crazy 4 Cult at Gallery 1988, this time featuring the bad guys you love to hate. For my piece I wanted to do an ode to Hocus Pocus and focus on the those effected by the witches curse.

I usually like very simple frames, but for this one I wanted a older, spooky looking frame for one of my favorite Halloween movies.

Gallery1988 - Crazy 4 Cult NYC!

This Thursday is the opening to Gallery 1988 Crazy 4 Cult exhibit at NYC! Yup usually the show is hosted at their gallery in LA, but this year they decided to mix it up and show the exhibit on the east coast in NYC. Here's the details:

With this show I always have a hard time narrowing it down to a movie to pay homage to, but I've been in love with the Monty Python folks for a while (particularly their Flying Circus tv series). From the silly walks, to memorable quotes this group of actors are awesome. So I decided to create a painting based on their characters from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Finding a holy grail is hard work and I thought they would have a little party to celebrate after the quest was completed.

Crazy 4 Cult Show Available Online

Just an update to say the Crazy 4 Cult show is online at Gallery 1988's website. 

100 artists take aim at cult classic films and my pieces were based on the movie The Princess Bride.

Crazy 4 Cult #5 - Opening tonight!

The opening reception for the Crazy 4 Cult 5 is tonight in Los Angeles, CA. These shows always have a great turnout and I wish I could make it! Below are my pieces for the show based on the film The Princess Bride.

Here they are all framed up! For some reason my back patio seems to be the spot to take photos of my framed pieces...not to much glare and I kinda like the concrete background.

Crazy 4 Cult #5 - Upcoming show at Gallery 1988

Coming up this July is the Crazy 4 Cult #5 show at Gallery 1988 in California.
It is an annual art show celebrating cult classic films with over 100 artists interpreting their favorite movies.

Below is a little sneak peek of my two contributions to the show.
I based my paintings on one of my favorite movies--"The Princess Bride".
The movie is full of memorable moments...Westley, shrieking eels, Princess buttercup, and oh so much more!
