Art Blocks for Ghana - NYC Fundraiser

Tomorrow is a preview for Art Blocks for Ghana where they will showcase works by top artists within the animation and illustration community to provide boarding and education for orphaned children in Ghana, West Africa.  Above is my piece that will be on preview that night.

The New York Preview Fundraiser will allow people to view the works in person before they go up for Online Auction March 12th.

There will also be food, drinks, artists, and silent auction items that you can bid on that night.

Art and Sole - YWCA Fundraiser

Here is a piece I did for the upcoming YWCA fundraiser in Lincoln, Nebraska. The event is called Art and Sole and features distinctive artwork and shoes! Items donated by area artists and business will be part of a silent auction to benefit the YWCA.

Individuals may purchase tickets to the event and have dinner and opportunity to bid on artwork and shoes.

The event is held Thursday, October 21st at 6:00pm at the Country Club of Lincoln. If you are in the area, come for a lovely evening and support the YWCA.

Cottonwood!

I had a great time at cottonwood festival last weekend. Our tent was by a nice shady tree and there was a pretty cool breeze the whole weekend. It was such a pleasure hanging out with all the other Graham Gallery artists in the tent.

Here's my booth. Todd Brown made the wooden shelf stand with lights. It's able to come apart and fit in my car (So excited!!!). It also works well keeping my prints in place despite the wind. (I remember the year when there was a massive storm and all my paintings blew away, not in bags OR frames of course!) I think every artist has their experience of being unprepared and witnessing the elements reek havoc on their art so this year I had a better plan of attack!

Cottonwood Festival this Weekend!

Just a quick note to say that I'll be in Hastings, NE this weekend with a great group of artists selling artwork at the Cottonwood Festival. Check us out in the Graham Gallery tent in Brickyard Park. I'll have original paintings on wood, some framed pieces and prints.

Stop on by! The Festival runs June 19-21st.

Prairie Loft Mural

I had a great time this weekend at the Prairie Loft "Plein Air Art" event in Hastings, NE. There was lots going on from an Art Auction, bake sale (And I might add that I won 3rd place with my Orange Guinness Cake!!!) and workshops and demonstrations.

I worked on painting a mural on the music stage, and people could come on up and join in the fun. I was asked to design the mural and had it "paint-by-numbers" style so people could grab a color and fill it in. Below is the murals progress...

Whoa...color!

Here the design is being projected and traced onto the surface of the stage. The fine folks of Hastings pitched in to get this done early so that it would be all ready to paint on the day of the "Plein Air" community events.

It's still not quite finished yet, there are going to be black outlines to refine the image and add detail. Thanks everyone who pitched in and helped with the mural and all the Prairie Loft events! (Thanks Amy for the event photos!)

Thank you everyone who made it out to the "Landskipping" artists reception last Saturday. We had a great turnout, some yummy food with some wonderful people, and lots of artwork!


We're also having an art raffle! The three collaborative pieces that Jamie, Sarah, and I worked on are being raffled off as a fun promotion. We each started a piece and then passed it around until finished. Just one ticket can get you one of the pieces above! Tickets are $5 each and the drawing will be held at the end of the month when the show is over. Stop by Graham Gallery to enter!

It's Monday Already...AND November???

Just wanted to share a recent painting I did for Nebraska Statewide Arboretum for a silent auction. The auction is over...but this is one of Matt's favorite pieces and I plan on doing more paintings along this theme.
