Bad Dad's show at Spoke Art

Last weekend was the opening to Bad Dad's art tribute to the wonderful Wes Anderson films at Spoke Art. It's always hard for me to choose what film to depict for this show, because I love each of Anderson's films for different reasons. But one constant throughout the films (except for Bottle Rocket) is Bill Murray playing some eccentric character. So that is the basis for my piece.

It's been hard to keep quiet about this but Gallery1988 and I have teamed up to produce prints of my painting "All My Murrays". They were just released today and are currently available at Gallery1988's website.

Here they are all organized for signing. I am a paper snob and super picky which is why I don't do a lot of prints, they are hard to get right sometimes. But I was just blown away by the print quality on these (printed by the fine folks at Gallery1988), they look so rich and detailed that I couldn't be more happy with how they turned out.

When getting together ideas for my piece to contribute to the show, I couldn't decide on just one Bill Murray performance. There are TOO MANY wonderful movies and characters that he has brought to life...so ended up picking my favorite Murray moments.

Movies Featured: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Caddyshack, Groundhog day, Ghostbusters series, Meatballs, Stripes, The Man Who Knew Too Little, Garfield.

I think Caddyshack was my first Murray love, with Ghostbusters, Meatballs and Life Aquatic coming in close behind. What's your favorite Bill Murray movie or comedy sketch?

Royal Tennenbaums was the very first Wes Anderson film I saw and have since watched it over and over again. There's so many scenes I love but one of my favorites is Margo and Ritchie together in the tent in the living room. It reminded me when I was younger and would set up our tent in the living room and have a camp-out.

 Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is a movie I love more and more every time I watch it.
Every character is so interesting and of course Bill Murray as Zissou is amaaazing!
